According to Itypetravel, Uintah County is a county located in the northeastern corner of Utah. It is bordered by Colorado to the east, Wyoming to the north, and Duchesne County to the south. The county was created in 1880 and named after the Native American Uintah band of Ute people who lived in the area. The county seat is Vernal, which was established in 1884. The area of Uintah County has been inhabited for thousands of years by Native Americans including the Utes, Shoshones, and Paiutes. The first European settlers arrived in 1864 and established ranches and farms in what is now known as Ashley Valley. In 1879 the first railroad line was built through Ashley Valley which helped spur economic growth in the area.
